Abstract

This session brings together scholars to discuss youth identity nationally and globally. Presenters will discuss how Hip Hop culture’s aesthetic forms aid youth in developing knowledge of self and position them as culture producers. Further, presenters will explore Hip Hop in connection to the larger sociopolitical discussion on the embodiment of democratic practice, civic engagement, and what it means to be Black and undocumented in the 21st Century.
