Session Type: Symposium
This symposium explores approaches to critical reflection through a range of disciplines and contexts. The session presents seven papers that address reflection through curricular matter, as well as through interrogating complex issues of equity and diversity across teacher education. Findings from longitudinal research that explore the role of portfolios in teacher education for experienced teachers provide an evidence base garnered from sustained inquiry, while the use of video reflection illustrates how digital media can serve as a meaningful process of reflection to engage preservice teachers in complex deliberations on their teaching practice. Collectively, the papers expand theoretical and practical understandings of the potential of portfolios in teacher education and the capacity of critical reflection to foster professional growth.
