Arts-Based Educational Research (ABER) mentoring practices can assist early-career researchers (ECRs) by expand their methodological repertoire. What helps ECRs learn to visualize the lives they encounter while creating microethnographies? What forms of listening, reflexivity, and distinctions between emic and etic perspectives are enlivened by ABER practices? And how do they learn to walk with others in order to absorb and understand the lives they are curious about? This paper takes up these methodological and pedagogical questions with a focus on ways to mentor ECRs into Arts-Based Educational Research practices.
