Sun, April 11, 2:30 to 4:00pm EDT (2:30 to 4:00pm EDT), SIG Sessions, SIG-Leadership for Social Justice Paper and Symposium Sessions

Abstract

Culturally responsive and socially just leadership (Lopez, 2016) is crucial in today’s world. The lead author will implement a qualitative research method using a bounded case study. These terminologies: “culturally responsive, socially just, equitable leadership” (Lopez, 2016; Shields, 2017) will consciously form the focal point of the study. Applied Critical Leadership (Santamaria & Santamaria, 2012) is the theoretical framework that will entrench social justice and equity instructional practices. The overarching goal is for school principals to be transformational leaders (Anderson, 2017) to grow as socially and culturally just in PK-12 leadership, which is germane to the predicted outcomes and findings. Finally, both authors will discourse an array of social and cultural inequities with respect to the Southwest Borders.
