While workplace experiences are embedded into a rising number of study programs, only little is known about its effects on the students´ competencies. Therefore, this project aims to analyze practical periods of dual bachelor programs. The main focus of this paper is on the frequencies of different tasks entrusted to the students and its perceived learning potential. Results of three successive internships show that in the beginning of the program, students are rather observing colleagues while the share of self-performance increases throughout the course of the study program. Although both self-performances and observations are predominantly evaluated positively, the perceived learning potential is often higher in the case of performed activities.
