This paper draws on the concept of ‘seascape epistemology’ (Ingersoll, 2017) as a practice/method of knowing that resists colonial capture through its embodied knowledge of ancestral connection and care. Situated in Toronto, Canada and Kahului, Hawaii, the research project I will discuss foregrounds modes of engagement that think with Indigenous relational practices of movement, and that recognize the need to respond and thus challenge anthropocentricism, individualism, colonization, and extractivism.
