The purpose of the problem of practice is to examine the challenges the preservice teachers experience during their practicum placement in the early childhood (EC) and early childhood special education (ECSE) programs. The study examined the data of 161 graduate EC and ECSE students who completed the problem of practice assignment over the period of two years during their placement in infant-toddler, preschool, and elementary settings. It also aims to provide solution to these well-defined problems through engagement in collaborative problem solving and discussion of issues using a consultancy model, following the DEC recommended practices. Results reveal that majority of the EC and ECSE students showed concern in relation to the lack of proper implementation of instructional strategies especially, while managing non-compliant behavior of young children school settings. Recommendations and scope for future findings have been discussed.
