Due to the increase of 1:1 laptop schools across the country, it was necessary to determine the efficacy of the teacher evaluation tool provided for such schools. This case study examines the perceptions of teachers and school site administrators at three Title 1 schools involved in the 1:1 laptop initiative. Researchers investigated their evaluation tool and instructional expectations. Data analysis revealed the evaluation rubric was not the most suitable tool and there was a discrepancy of classroom observation expectations between teachers and school administrators. Such unsuitable teacher evaluation tools negated school administrators from establishing a collective expectation of 1:1 laptop instruction and technical support for teachers. It is recommended to reconceptualize teacher evaluation tools at the local and state level.
