This study examines undergraduate students’ evaluation of online teaching quality in the context of the global pandemic of COVID-19. A sample of 27012 undergraduate students across China participated in an online questionnaire survey which investigated students’ online course experience, satisfaction with and attitudes towards online teaching, and self-efficacy for completing online academic tasks. The results showed the refined Online Course Experience Questionnaire had good psychometric qualities, and revealed some significant mean differences in terms of gender, university type and disciplinary type. Various factors of students’ online course experience were significantly associated with their academic efficacy as well as their satisfaction with and attitudes towards online teaching. These findings enrich the current knowledge about students’ course experience.
