Abstract

This study investigated the influence of the restrictions of school attendance in the early stages of Covid-19 pandemic on fatigue, sleep duration (SD) and work-related rumination in teachers. 143 teachers participated before and 37 teachers during school restrictions in a five-days diary study. The analyses revealed that teachers during school restrictions had lower levels and a flattened trajectory of fatigue. The effect was mediated by affective rumination (AR). Higher AR and lower SD were related to higher fatigue. Problem-solving pondering was not influenced by the restrictions and did not affect fatigue. This study goes beyond prior research by assessing recovery and stress experience during Covid-19 using a multilevel design.
