Enrollment and Achievement in Middle School Music: Evidence From NAEP

Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to understand the rates at which 8th grade students in the U.S. enrolled in school music courses and to determine the achievement levels in music that music students attain. Nationally representative results are discussed using evidence form the 2016 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) in music.
