Sat, April 10, 10:40am to 12:10pm EDT (10:40am to 12:10pm EDT), SIG Sessions, SIG-Queer Studies Paper and Symposium Sessions

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to review the literature on campus climate for LGBTQ undergraduate students and examine if race is brought into those conversations and how it is discussed. An intersectionality lens was used to examine the discussions of campus climate for LGBTQ students of Color when those occurred. When examining literature on campus climate for LGBTQ students in general, there has been a vast increase in research surrounding this topic. This review of the literature highlights the lack of intersectionality work being done to examine the experiences of LGBTQ students of Color. This lack of research contributes to the erasure of queer students of Color and their identities as it relates to their experiences.
