English Learning Latinx Males From Urban Los Angeles

Thu, April 8, 2:00 to 3:00pm EDT (2:00 to 3:00pm EDT), SIG Sessions, SIG-Latina/o/x Research Issues Roundtable Sessions

Abstract

The current research on Latinx male students suggests that they still face challenges across their P-20 education pipeline. Relying on Solórzano and Yosso’s (2002) leveraging of Critical Race Theory in Education for Latinx students and using Bernal’s (2002) Critical Raced-Gender Epistemological lens of data analysis, this qualitative research study explored how language influenced the academic experiences of Latinx males from urban Los Angeles across their P-20 education pipeline.
