Abstract

This study investigated the Internet plagiarism (IP) of Chinese students and analyzed the relationship among achievement goals (AG), self-control, acceptance, past plagiarism experience, and intentions. A total of 551 15-26 year-old students participated in this study. Correlation analysis showed that all variables in this study are related to each other. Regression analysis showed that AG, self-control, plagiarism acceptance and past experience can jointly predict IP intentions with high level of predictive explanatory power of 64%. Specifically, students with dominant mastery approach have lower IP intentions; whereas students with more impulsive personality, more acceptable to IP and more past IP experience have higher IP intentions. In response to this result, this article puts forward suggestions to reduce IP.
