Mon, April 12, 11:10am to 12:40pm EDT (11:10am to 12:40pm EDT), SIG Sessions, SIG-Research in Reading and Literacy Paper and Symposium Sessions

Abstract

Examination of trends within recent research provides insight into how scholars in the field are guiding educational policy and practice. Thus, this systematic literature review and content analysis investigates the types of texts being implicitly valued by educational researchers through their inclusion within published research in four literacy journals over the past ten years. In addition, analysis sought to determine who is selecting the texts included within recently published studies, and how students are interacting/engaging with the texts. Results indicate that the majority of the articles (57%) included in this review utilized standardized assessments, with 27% utilizing such assessments exclusively.
