In order to further expedite postsecondary completion, efforts exist across the nation to expand programs that allow high school students to engage in college-level coursework through dual enrollment and Advanced Placement (AP) programs. Minimal research addresses differences for two-year community college completers and transfer students when examining their participation in either program. A quantitative ex post facto research design was used to analyze sample data from a community college district with an ethnic breakdown resembling Los Angeles County. Compared to students that neither participated in dual enrollment nor AP programs, exposure to dual enrollment and AP while in high school similarly predicted greater degree completion or transfer when controlling for gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and high school grade point average.
