Abstract
This study examines the process of developing an arts education collaboration in a California urban public school setting as a platform for introducing culturally relevant, transdisciplinary arts integration into the curriculum. The art form is jazz as presented by a world-renown community cultural arts organization partnering with the local school districts. In support of sharing jazz beyond the immediate community, the arts organization engages an innovative collaboration technology to exponentially expand their reach. Having successfully established a pilot program with this technology, the program developers are engaged in layering culturally relevant curriculum into the program by collaborating with a network of Afro-centric (and other) scholars, artists, and technologists who also participate in the advanced network technology identified.
