Homeless and food insecurity among college students is an emerging public health crisis.
As the cost of living and higher education rises, a growing number of students are struggling to meet their basic needs. While emerging research highlights food insecurity, fewer studies specifically examine the needs of homeless students, and less scholarship directly addresses the role that institutions play in meeting student needs. This study highlights a campus-based resource, Corton Cares (pseudonym), a targeted institutional service charged with addressing the needs of students with food and/or housing insecurity. With the help of student and staff interviews, along with a document analysis, this case study seeks to understand the holistic experiences of college students who utilize Corton Cares services.
