Today, epistemological, artificial boundaries and social tensions persist as extreme polarization plagues our social, educational, and political institutions. In this paper, we seek to embrace our responsibility as science and mathematics teacher educators (SMTEs) by centering perspectivizing as a form of praxis between our ways of knowing in our fields and our development as critical friends, science and mathematics teacher education citizen-scholars. We believe that embracing our responsibility as citizen-scholars in changing times involves us: (1) fostering collaborative work across disciplines; (2) bridging historical, political, and social perspectives in/across our disciplines as part of learning to teach; and (3) challenging entrenched injustices beyond our educational institutions focusing on community learning within teacher education.
