In Event: Teacher Perspectives and Pedagogies of Using Technology in Language and Literacy Education
With more prevalent adoption of VR technology in language learning in recent years, there is an emerging need to develop an instrument for assessing the influence of VR technology on students’ motivation in language learning. This study aimed to construct and validate an instrument, namely Motivation in VR Chinese Language Learning Inventory. 300 Chinese secondary school students in Hong Kong from two schools participated in this study. The instrument was validated with adequate reliability of measuring students’ motivation in the context of VR-assisted Chinese language learning. Students’ confidence in Chinese writing is the best predictor of their Chinese language writing literacy. This is the first study that studies the association of students’ first language related with motivation and writing constructs.
