The proposed study investigated the variety of undergradutes’ learning-related needs across one quarter. We were particularly interested in potential inter- and intra-individual differences across various students’ characteristics. Data were drawn from 241 undergraduates (31.1% males, 56.0% first-generation) at one university in California at the beginning and the end of a quarter spring 2020. We asked students about their learning-related needs in online courses, e.g., the importance of getting feedback and emotional support from the instructors, and generating career-related knowledge. On average, the most important need of students was a clear structure of the course; the least important was emotional support from the instructors. Inter-and intra-individual differences were identified. Results will be interpreted with regard to mandatory and optional course settings.
