Sun, April 11, 2:30 to 3:30pm EDT (2:30 to 3:30pm EDT), SIG Sessions, SIG-Research on Teacher Induction Poster Sessions

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify, categorize, and analyze published peer-reviewed research on teaching in physical education (RTPE), more specifically the patterns of publication by geographical region, between July 1994 and December 2015.
Methods: A search of three databases produced 18,966 abstracts that were reduced to 1,023 articles that fit inclusion criteria. Articles were coded independently and analyzed focusing specifically on patterns of research by country and consolidated by regions (e.g., Europe, UK, Oceania, USA).
Results: The USA and UK accounted for 55.5% of all RTPE. Europe (25.4%), Oceania (5%), Asia (4%), and Canada, (3.5%) were also prevalent. Rich data were present in the analysis.
Conclusion: RTPE is published globally, and there are many differences by regions.
