Primary Artifacts of Democracy

• In Event: Understanding Perspectives and Experiences of Preservice and New Social Studies Teachers

Abstract

How do preservice teachers conceptualize the tools of democracy? This study focused on how preservice teachers conceptualized the culturally mediated primary artifacts of democracy. Using multiple methods of data collection, this study found that preservice teachers have a more nuanced understanding of democracy as an activity.
