Higher education literature and university practices focus serving and expanding our understanding of Latinx students treat this population as a monolithic group. In doing so, educators fail to recognize the diversity within and between Latinx students and how these group differences can impact the college experiences for students from different countries of origin. The authors argue that research focused on Central American students is needed because their experiences, although marginalized, are critical for understanding and serving Latinx college students.
