The National Student Clearinghouse Research Center found in 2016-2017 the persistence rate for Black students was 67% followed by Hispanics at 70.7% and overall 73.9% (Berzenski, 2019; Tinto, 2006). More than half-a million students who have enrolled in college have been found not ready to enter college and 96% of schools have enrolled students who have required some level of remedial work (Butrymowicz, 2017). These numbers show a need for current experimental research to be completed regarding college student success intervention programming to determine how to best work with at-risk student populations at four-year schools. This study is a synthetic literature review, and the session will report on available empirical research on college student success intervention programming.
