Despite the increase of gentrification across urban U.S. cities, little research has explored how principals respond to the impacts of gentrification on schools. Drawing on a cross-case analysis in two of the most gentrified cities in the US, this study used qualitative interviews to examine 26 principals’ description of gentrification and their responses to the impacts of gentrification on the schools where they work. Findings from this study will contribute to our understanding about the critical role that school leaders can play in responding to gentrification, which is a growing phenomenon in urban cities across the US.
