Research on Chemical Information Processing Capability of Junior High School Students

Abstract

Chemical information processing runs through the whole process of chemical learning and is the core component of chemical learning capability. This study investigated the development status of students' chemical information processing capability. 325 Chinese grade 9 students’ chemical information processing capability was measured. Based on Rasch model analyses, the quality of chemical information processing capability measurement instrument was evaluated to ensure the reliability and validity. The results indicated that more than half of the students have reached the level of chemical information generalization, but only few students were able to apply chemical information to solve problems.
