Abstract

Dual credits program are collaborations between secondary and postsecondary education that enable high school students to enroll in college courses and receive course credit for both college and high school. Previous studies found that dual credit contributes to students’ secondary-to-postsecondary education transitions and advances college persistence and attainment. However, dual credit literature varies across states, delivery methods, subpopulations, and influence. It is necessary to assess the effects of dual credit by accounting the individual state demographics and student success outcome needs. Using Propensity Score Matching and logistic regression analysis, the focus of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of dual credit as a strategy for increasing students’ postsecondary achievement in Kentucky four-year public institutions, as measured by second-year persistence.
