The View From the Balcony: Leading for Systemic Change

Thu, April 8, 5:00 to 6:00pm EDT (5:00 to 6:00pm EDT), SIG Sessions, SIG-Leadership for Social Justice Roundtable Sessions

Abstract

This qualitative case study examines and analyzes how one principal in a suburban school with a racially diverse student body leads towards equity. Our analysis shows how district-level, sociopolitical, and economic factors have caused hurdles for this leader’s practices. However, it also illuminates how some of these forces have spurred this principal to be even more sensitive to issues of equity.
