The lack of Black and Latinx teachers in PK-12 education has been a widely documented cause for concern given the continued inequities and racist structures embedded within a system with predominantly white teachers and school leaders. This manuscript presents a participatory action research project focused on a University-Early Care Center Partnership effort related to supporting childcare center providers in obtaining a Bachelor’s degree and Inclusive Early Childhood teaching credential. Based on a participatory action research study intended to develop a working model for attracting, recruiting, supporting and retaining Black and Latinx teachers, we offer a framework for establishing these partnerships, developing inclusive programs of study, and recommendations for future policy and practices that support these partnerships.
