Abstract

This study investigates whether My Math Academy a game-based math program with personalized content and adaptive embedded assessments, can improve math learning outcomes for kindergarten through second grade students when implemented under routine conditions in Title 1 schools. Findings indicate that students using My Math Academy made significant math learning gains relative to students who did not, and teachers foundMy Math Academy user-friendly, recognizing it as a valuable learning resource that improved students’ engagement, motivation, and confidence in learning math. The study identified several key components that are important for My Math Academy to be implemented with high fidelity in authentic K-2nd grade classrooms and provided insights into factors that are essential to developing early math knowledge and increasing children’s motivation to learn math.
