The purpose of this study is to uncover the educational contributions of famed Civil Rights activist, Clara Luper (1923-2011), within her historical milieu, contributing to knowledge about Luper as a teacher activist. Situating Luper within her historical context of Civil Rights and segregation, the set of assumptions guiding my study will center on and around her unique point of view as a teacher activist. This study draws from black feminist theory to center a structural critique of dominant educational scholarship. This study relied on oral histories, primary sources, and secondary sources. It was found that Luper saw herself as an activist contributing to a larger cause, and her pedagogy in the classroom had intergenerational reverberations.
