Preservice Teacher Self-Efficacy in the Moral Work of Teaching

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to explore the ways in which teacher candidates make sense of the moral work of teaching and the impact it might have on their future practice. The larger study, of which this paper is a part, follows teacher candidates from preservice program into practice in order to track their understanding of and self-efficacy in engaging in the moral work of teaching, as well as the meaning/value they find in attending to the moral work of teaching and the ways in which it informs their professional identity.
