While there has been a recent increase of public interest in the stories of those who have been wrongfully incarcerated, there has been very little empirical research on these stories―especially within the field of education. Thus, using BlackCrit as a theoretical framework and portraiture as a methodology, this study aims to place the stories of Black exonerees within the field of education by exploring the following research question:
●How do Black exonerees who were wrongfully incarcerated as children narrate their memories, experiences, and perspectives of schooling and education?
In exploring the question, this study will hopefully contribute to theorizations of Blackness and enable us to more fully realize the radical possibilities of Black education.
