Although the academic community is passionate about grit, recent research shows that its relationship with academic achievement is challenged. This study used 4324 junior high school students in China as a sample to investigate the impact of grit on academic achievement. From the perspective of non-cognitive factors, it explored the intermediary role of learning motivations and learning attitude. Results from the structural equation model showed that after controlling learning interest, learning strategy and autonomous learning ability, grit is positively associated with academic achievement;intrinsic motivation and learning attitude play a completely multiple mediating role among them. Research results show that grit can promote academic achievement, but the impact is not large, and intrinsic motivation and learning attitude play an important role.
