The purpose of the study was to understand the effects of time strain (studying, working, caring for dependents, and commuting) on external life stressors for students in the community college. This study utilized Bean and Metzner’s (1985) model of nontraditional undergraduate student attrition as a guide to interpreting the data. The data was analyzed with Statistics Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) using linear regression procedures. The findings were non-significant for the association of studying and external stressors, but the associations were positive and significant for working, caring for dependents, and commuting and external stressors. The results indicate that students may not have sufficient time to address their stressors.
