Using a quasi-experimental design, the current study assessed the effectiveness of a teacher professional development program on 1) teachers' knowledge and skills in identifying K-12 gifted students, 2) teachers' ability in creating culturally and internationally relevant curriculum, and 3) teachers’ beliefs about culturally, linguistically, and economically diverse gifted students. The quantitative study results provided the evidence of the effectiveness of the research based professional development on improving teachers’ knowledge and skills in gifted education on some specific aspects. This helps promote a successful model for improving gifted education.
