Should Emotions Be Taken Into Consideration Within Online Learning Environments? A Systematic Review Study

Abstract

In online learning environments that are increasingly important with the pandemic process, it is stated that the emotional and cognitive experiences of students guide researchers. In this study, it was aimed to reveal the tested hypotheses and results about emotion and technology studies in online learning environments in the category of “Education and Educational Research” through systematic literature review. 27 research articles that were published in the Web of Science database between 2015-2020 , meet the inclusion criteria were analyzed. According to the results, 20 of the studies test a model; seven of them were determined to examine the effect of the experimental process on students' emotions. Suggestions were made about the role of emotion as a variable in online learning.
