Fri, April 9, 10:40am to 12:10pm EDT (10:40am to 12:10pm EDT), Division H, Division H - Section 2 Paper and Symposium Sessions

Abstract

Instructional coaching has emerged as a more successful alternative to traditional forms of professional development. This study examines the effects of coaching school leaders, system leaders, and teachers on instructional practices and student achievement. Results show that after one year, instructional practices improved, but, on average, coached districts and schools perform on-par with similar districts and schools.  However, there is a distribution of performance. The study suggests prioritizing structures for protected time with student data.
