This study looked into 17 online and blended educational technology course syllabi from teacher education programs in the U.S. While student teachers experienced a wide range of technology use in online/blended settings, our findings suggest that teacher education programs have yet thoughtfully design quality edtech lessons to develop student teachers’ professionalism. Our data imply that a more comprehensive and in-depth reflection of ISTE standards needs to be considered when designing online/blended edtech courses. Moreover, Based on Bloom’s Digital Taxonomy, more than 50% of the learning tasks in our data corpus remain at mastering lower-level cognitive skills. Implications for teacher education and educational technologies are discussed.
