This paper is designed to interrogate and capture the influences of globalization on education, through an Iranian ESL teacher’s (Nadia) narratives. When examined from a Foucauldian perspective, Nadia’s story reveals how disciplinary power (economic power in this case) has been exercised towards her, and hence created unequal relationships between her and her students within the IEP due to the economic standing of her country of origin. In doing so, this paper hopes to provide conceptual, processual, and methodological insights for other researchers interested in addressing the complexities of minority teachers’ experience in the context of globalization.
