We examined data from the High School Longitudinal Study of 2009 (HSLS: 2009) to investigate the effects of school counseling college-going culture on students’ counselor contacts, application and enrollment rates. The result revealed the school counseling college-going culture is a critical factor of students’ college –going decisions. The positive relationships of the school counseling-going culture on student-counselor contact, students’ application rates and enrollment extend the prior research by providing information about school counselors’ expectations/priorities, student-counselor contact for college/career counseling, and college/career readiness activities play significant roles in shaping postsecondary education. This study provided a cohesive school counseling –centered model and information on how school counselors’ beliefs, and expectations, goals, practices, and activities influence students’ college decisions.
