This methodological paper presents a research design for examining how institutional practices shape the experiences of pregnant and/or parenting graduate student women’s in STEM doctoral programs. Drawing on Institutional Ethnography (IE) and Intersectionality, I share how these methodological approaches were integrated and applied through analysis of interviews via the Listening Guide to search for institutional discourses, policies, and procedures within the experiences of pregnant and/or parenting graduate student women in STEM. This study provides a perspective through which to examine and problematize STEM higher education.
