Faculty diversity empowers a message of meaningfulness and authenticity that students can see themselves in diverse professional roles. Preliminary analysis of the data collected illustrates that over 90% of the student participants agree/strongly agree that having teachers from diverse backgrounds benefit their understanding and growth in social justice and serve as valuable role models to them. By using a mixed methods research approach, this session will highlight the impacts of faculty diversity, as identified by students. In addition, the session will explore the transformative leadership approach in developing strategies for achieving faculty diversity. A diverse faculty workforce provides students with divergent perspectives that better prepares them to effectively perform in the diversity of the United States.
