The purpose of this exploratory, narrative study was to begin to understand how experiential knowledge manifests in varying typologies of counterstorytelling. Cuentos, consejos, and testimonios were utilized to ascertain how Latinx/a/o students narrate their understanding of their critical consciousness. Findings demonstrate differences between each type of counterstorytelling, with consejos and testimonios being more likely to challenge normative hegemonic narratives.
