This paper takes up the notion of a narrative family tree in which family knowledge (in this case, knowledge related to narrative inquiry) is passed on from one generation of researchers to another. Employing narrative methods and the analytical tools of broadening, burrowing, and storying/restorying, we examine the ways that ideas connected to narrative inquiry have shaped and become embodied in our practices. In this family tree exploration, emergent themes include (1) the power of narratives of experience to promote learning, (2) the shaping influence of narrative methods on reflective practice, and (3) how our interactions with the narrative community members, both professionally and personally, have influenced our work and enriched our lives.
