The main objective of this paper is to introduce a family of non-normal distributions by mixing a quadratic function of uniform (0, 1) random variate with the quantile function of standard logistic distribution. Specifically, a linear combination of the uniform (0, 1) random variate and its square is mixed with the quantile function (i.e., the inverse of cumulative distribution function) of standard logistic distribution to generate this family of non-normal distributions. Another objective of this paper is to characterize this new family of distributions through the method of L-moments and conventional moments. Another objective of this paper is to apply this new family of distributions in fitting data arising in educational and psychological fields.
