Integrating Human-Centered Design in Higher Education Courses: Evaluating the First Iteration

Sun, April 11, 4:10 to 5:40pm EDT (4:10 to 5:40pm EDT), SIG Sessions, SIG-Design and Technology Paper and Symposium Sessions

Abstract

This study reports how a newly established Design Center at a large Midwestern University integrated human-centered design (HCD) in three post-secondary courses. We evaluated the first iteration of courses to understand how students and teachers enact HCD. Using a multiple case analysis, we collected data from the teachers and students. Findings revealed directions for changes that are needed in future iterations to effectively integrate HCD in these courses, and others like them.
