Public education and public housing partnerships have grown in popularity in recent years; yet, the relationship between public education and public housing is mixed in the existing literature. In particular, research often focuses on student outcomes exclusively, neglecting to investigate the ways the interaction of multiple policy systems can impact student experiences. In this paper, the authors conduct a critical policy analysis of the relationship between public education and public housing in Seattle, Washington. This paper specifically asks: (1.) What type of public schools do children living in public housing attend?, and (2.) Do public schools systematically disadvantage students living in public housing? Findings illustrates how public schools serving students in public housing systematically provide compromised schooling experiences.
