This paper draws on the traditions of decolonial feminist inquiry to interrogate the dominant norms embedded in traditional university-based teacher education. With decolonial theory and antiracist pedagogy guiding this work, we collectively explore our encounters with colonizing practices, policies, and spaces of teacher education. We interrogate daily practices and interactions that normalize colonization of minds and bodies and push each other to imagine a different way of being and knowing in this world. Attending to global echoes of local conflicts, we take up our collective responsibility to address racial injustice in our communities and “learn to learn from below” by engaging with community activists who help us envision a different path forward toward decolonizing teacher education programs.
